Name:
Alph Reeds
Essence Name: Omega
Chronological Age:
21
Biological Age: 20
Race Name:
Soul-Bound Human
Race Description:
Racial Powers:
Strong Mental Defense, Light Mental Signature Detection of near vicinity to Bound Object and Soul-Bound. Limited Immortality and Agelessness
Description of Character:
Black hair, pale skin, green eyes. Alph looks mostly pretty ordinary for a person his age. He's 5'11" and lanky in build. He commonly wears a blue baseball cap, though Omega annoys him by turning it backwards when in control. Alph normally wears clothing that covers a good deal of skin, such as hoodies and long pants, while Omega tends towards the opposite with t-shirts and shorts. Similarly, Alph normally aims for cool and dark colours for clothing, while Omega aims for as obnoxious as possible. Thankfully, since Alph only has limited clothing at the moment, Omega can't do anything Too drastic.
Character Personality:
Alph Reeds is a reasonably normal teenager-turned-young-adult. He's shy, tries to be polite and generally avoids getting in other people's way. Much more of a listener than a speaker, he finds social situations uncomfortable as he often doesn't know what to say. While not against close company, finding friends is difficult as he is often very closed out of a mixture of fear of what he is and general social awkwardness. Knowing how people acted in his hometown towards him as a Soul-Bound, he is desperate to avoid everything falling apart again.
Alph enjoys quiet, pleasant things like reading books, watching movies and fishing. He likes the rain and storms, and walks outside at quiet nights. He is kind and patient with people, and very gentle. He enjoys pets and plants and is scared of elevators, having been stuck in one as a child. He enjoys taking pictures of friends and events with friends, even if he has none in Ruin and few back home. As destructive as Omega is, and very much the opposite of his personality, he finds the fact he at least has one friend comforting.
The Essence tied to Alph is a being that refers to itself as 'Omega'. This is not its first name, as it views it was destroyed into many fragments which all could belong to its old name, so a new name is needed. In a something of his pridefulness, he chose something that 'sounded cool'. Omega once was a Trickster who played with societies on a whim, watching the chaos of their truths being destroyed. While not an Evil Essence, their interest in lesser beings verges on being their plaything. Omega finds the way lesser beings act incredibly interesting, from relationships to organisations. However, much like a child, they are as much interested in destroying them as building them. They like springing dirty secrets about people in front of others, watching them react when outside their comfort zone. As such, they take immense pleasure in the idea of turning celebrated heroes into atrocities, searching for secrets in wait of the perfect time to unleash them for maximum chaos.
That being said, Omega can be kind. They can make friends, treat people nicely and knows the basics of decency. Whether they follow this is the question. Omega acts somewhat like a child or early teenager. He's rude, blunt, loud, lacks a lot of social etiquette. He enjoys graffiti and insulting people for kicks, and enjoys making people mad. His destructiveness is mostly out of amusement than any cruelty, which while incredibly destructive as a great being is much more manageable as a human.
Alph has a good relationship with Omega, a rare thing for a Soul-Bound. Omega finds being in a human body fascinating and learning about Rune from a 'lower perspective' might suit them just as much. Alph views Omega as a friend, dividing the week into days of who is in control. Omega helps Alph be confident and gives them support and advice, while Alph gives Omega a new life as a 'human'. Omega even takes into account avoiding jail so as to not impede Alph's control days. Alph knows he is incredibly lucky that he is Soul-Bound to a Trickster, and is terrified of others finding out what he is. As such, the common cover is that he has split personalities that are aware of each other, though Alph knows people will grow suspicious when he isn't aging as he should.
History:
Once a young man just out of schooling, Alph had a pleasant life. He had a few close friends he was very comfortable with and worked at a local cafe as a server. Everything was relatively fine until a freak occurrence. A cult, having somehow found out of a Bound Object in the restaurant, attacked as he was working there. A number of people were gravely hurt as the Cult suddenly attacked, trying to find it by force. Alph himself was fatally wounded, though desperate to live and help those near him. The Essence of the Bound Object, sensing the desperation and wanting to cause further chaos for the Cult, offered to heal those wounded in exchange for binding with them. With no option, wishing to save some lives before he died, he accepted without a second thought. Though the people wounded were healed, the Cult disgusted that the Bound Object was already binded, fleed before the police. Alph died of his injuries.
Only to wake up again the next day in front of a grieving crowd. People were stunned. Some were glad. Alph was embarrassed at being naked in front of all these people. They gave him clothes and welcomed him at first. But some began to realize what he was. Though he tried to go back to normal life, slowly people started turning on him. 'Was he human anymore? How long until he turned? That thing inside him will kill us, y'know'. Slowly he grew more and more isolated. His family argued whether they should let him in the house any more. He lost his job and most of his friends. The ones that remained gathered and gave him the only thing they could: a way out. With their help, Alph packed up his things and fled to Ruin to make a new life for himself, knowing he had little left at his home. All he had was luggage, a bit of money, and a new voice in his head. Here goes nothing.
