The Basics
Name: Zira Wintersong
Age: 123 years (Adult)
Race Name: Planetouched (Aasimar)
Race Description: [Here]
Physical Aasimar Traits
Feathered wings (can fly)
Silver-tinged skin
Racial Powers:
Universal Planetouched Powers (i.e., freebie powers)
Planar Resistance – Zira possesses a passive ability to resist a small amount of damage or other effect from Light/Holy and Cold energy. [Weak]
Darkvision – Like all planetouched, Zira can see perfectly well in natural darkness. Darkness created by a power or item, however, still affects him as normal.
Aasimar Powers
1. Touch of Serenity - Zira's touch can temporarily quell violence. Up to three times per fight/encounter, Zira can attempt to touch a target. If successful, the target will be unable to perform intentionally harmful actions (attacking, using power/spells that cause physical or mental harm, etc) for up to three posts. This is a mind-affecting power and cannot work against something without a conscious will. [Moderate; WPP]
2. Heart to Heart - At will, Zira can establish an empathic connection with another person. This two-way connection allows him to sense what the other person is feeling, and vice versa. There is no way for him to mitigate the sharing from his end. If a power or item prevents his emotion from being shared, he cannot sense theirs. [Moderate; WPP]
3. Aura of Calm - Zira is surrounded by a passive aura that protects against emotional manipulation. This aura grants Zira [Moderate] resistance against powers and effects that attempt to alter or effect his emotional state, for good or ill. In addition, those he recognises as allies who are within 10 feet of him gain a [Light] version of this protection. The aura functions only while Zira is conscious.
The Person
Description of Character: Zira is on the tall end of the spectrum, standing at about 6'6". His clothing conceals his body well, the tucks and folds of draping fabric giving the impression that he's simply tall and somewhat slim. However, frequent flight has long since given his back and chest strength, and his enthusiasm for swordplay has given him a good bit of muscle as well. He's not as delicate as he may look, and he's come to enjoy the deception.
His base complexion is pale, and his celestial blood gives his skin a silvery sheen, making him appear almost ethereal in low light. His blue eyes are wide and long-lashed, and his jaw is softly tapered and usually clean-shaven. His long hair, often at least partially woven into braids, is white. His large, feathered wings are likewise white, but shimmer with a faint iridescence in the light, and have a 14-foot span when fully spread. His main concession to vanity, aside from his sometimes complicated braids, are his silver earrings. Four in each ear, with a thin chain linking three of them. The fourth is a tragus piercing with a sapphire drop hanging from it.
Character Personality: Generally speaking, Zira is quiet and a bit shy, and tends to listen more than he talks when in a group. He’s a patient, empathetic sort of person when it comes to emotional matters. He’s more than willing to lend a sympathetic ear or a shoulder to cry on, and he’s a bit of a romantic. Okay, more than a bit, and he’s let his feelings get the better of him on more than one occasion.
He’s easily flustered when a conversation turns to racier topics. He's really (really) interested in sex and is generally comfortable talking about things with his partners and very close friends, but otherwise, he starts blushing and stammering, even if (especially if?) he's interested in the other person.
He's usually honest about how he feels, though he’s shyer about laughing than crying, which makes the fact that he is ungodly ticklish more than a little embarrassing. Pick any spot and just act like you’re going for it; he flinches every time.
He has a protective streak. If someone else needs backup, he’s there, be it for verbal backing, physical protection, moral support, or just to stand there and look tall and angry. When it comes to purely physical danger, he’s pretty fearless. He’s not a thrill-seeker, per se, but he's far from objecting when he finds it. He’s not afraid of injury or getting sick, and he's stubborn when he is hurt. He doesn’t want to lie down and be babied; he wants to do the things he’s supposed to be doing. He’ll downplay anything that’s physically wrong.
"I don't think the bone should be showing like that, Zira."
"It's fine."
He worships twin gods of Life and Death, and his personal philosophy regarding the two is to protect life and make it better where he can, BUT. Life should not be protected at ALL costs, because yes, sometimes it really is that bad and it's not for him as an outsider to judge that it isn't. Sometimes, it's best to provide a merciful end than to force continued misery. In addition, he worships a god of Love and Art, and prefers written and musical artistry. He has a lot of books, and most of his reading material is romance and poetry.
The Stuff
Worn/Equipped
Cosmetics - Tingling Nailpolish (Lavender) - If you run your fingernails lightly over bare skin, it'll leave a pleasant tingling sensation behind. Works on yourself, works better on others.
Head - Moonfire Circlet - When worn, this silver circlet surrounds you in a soft, undulating light that is freezing cold to the touch. Weapons and other objects made of metal that strike you become exceedingly brittle and prone to breakage for the next post round. Living matter is not immediately harmed by touching you, though prolonged contact may cause frostbite and hypothermia. [PL: Strong]
Lunar Halo - This halo provides only a faint light that's best seen at night, nearly invisible during the day. While worn, it hovers over your head. The light it casts will reveal hidden and intangible creatures in a radius of 20 ft around you. When angered, the halo turns into a icy crystal ring. In this mode, you can shoot shards of ice from your fingertips like arrows. [All effects Moderate]
Neck - Amulet of the Celestial Plane - This large, polished opal hangs from a chain of smoky gray steel.
Three times per thread, you can unleash a ray of heavenly fire. Against evil creatures, the ray deals a [Light] amount of damage. This damage is divine in nature and not subject to fire resistance. The ray may also heal good creatures of a [Light] amount of damage. If you are an angel, aasimar, or other celestial race, this healing/damage is increased by one tier. If you are a demon, tiefling, or other infernal race, it is instead reduced by one tier.
Whether a character is considered good or evil is up to that character's player. If a character is considered to be neither good nor evil, the amulet has no effect.
Body - Robe of the Angel Lord - This elaborate robe of damask silk has a unique designed to fit the comfort of its winged wearer. The back contains a panel with magnetic snaps that can be removed for ease of slipping out of the robe without entangling wings. The robe itself is form-fitting through the chest and sleeves. The robe clasps down the front until it hits mid-waist at which point it splits, flaring out to the sides with comfortable looseness. The lower half of the robe contains an extra-light layer of silk connecting from the waist and overlaying the robe loosely, allowing for the interplay of colors. The robe is primarily a soft lavender color, bordering on a shade of white. The extra layer is in lilac. From the waist upwards, the robe has lilac embroidery on purple-white silk in swirling, curling designs.
Hands - Gloves of Peaceful Crossing - You can't save everyone, and death is part of life. These gloves are usually white when worn, but darken into shades of grey the nearer the person you touch is to death. When the gloves are dark grey to nearly black, your touch can take away any pain that the dying may be experiencing in order to ease their passing.
Ring 1 - Ring of Protection - This silver ring is set with a faceted sapphire. While worn, it creates a magical field around you that averts and deflects attacks. [Defense: Strong]
Ring 2 - Martyr's Ring - This white-gold ring is set with a tear-shaped diamond that appears to have a drop of blood trapped inside. Once per fight/encounter, you may choose to take the full amount of damage from a Strong attack, suppressing your protective items and moving in such a way as to allow the attack to hit well despite any armor you may be wearing. When you take this damage, everyone you designate as an ally is healed an equal amount. You, of course, are not healed. That would just be cheap. [PL: Strong]
Belt - Merciful Blade - This silver sword can be used to subdue or kill.
When its Merciful quality is active, successful strikes cause nonlethal damage that results in fatigue and weakness rather than potentially life-threatening wounds. When a target takes as many strikes as would normally kill them, they instead collapse into unconsciousness, too weak and exhausted to continue the fight. [Nonlethal Damage: Strong]
When the Merciful power is suppressed, the blade's power is reduced by one tier, but does lethal damage instead. [Moderate Damage]
Carried
☾ The Gift - This tiny heart shaped piece of crystal pulses with an inner light. Anyone holding it and gazing it at is overcome with a sensation of warmth and safety. Eventually, it runs out. Can only be recharged back to full strength by giving it to someone else.
☾ Potion of Repose - Bottled nerves; drinking this will not make you immune to fear or anxiety or even just nervousness, but it will allow you to keep a completely straight and calm face no matter how you're feeling. Must have if you're a big poker player.
☾ Seed of the Sun's Hope - This tiny seed looks like a pearl and stores sunlight. When full, it glows very lightly. Holding it aloft and willing it to activate causes it to crack and grow into a beautiful yellow flower that shines with the force of the sun itself and grants everyone nearby a surge of optimism for a solid minute before it goes dark and the flower wilts, dropping a new seed. [Light]
Home
☾ Feather Sword - It's a large, blade-sized feather with a sword hilt. Kind of useless unless you're in a tickle fight, but Zira was amused enough to keep it. (It was a gag gift)
☾ Chaos Bookshelf - This bookshelf's contents will randomly change every few weeks. Topics range wildly. It's like someone pulled a sampling from a library.
☾ Sword of Passion - This greatsword's silver blade burns with fire when drawn, and the damage it does is directly proportional to how much heart you put into the fight.
If your heart just isn't in it, the blade is merely warm [Weak Damage].
If fighting for a cause you believe in with your whole soul, or defending someone you care about greatly, the fire is nearly too bright to look at and does a great deal of additional damage. [Damage: Strong]
