A Closer Look
Description of Character: Elwood looks unimposing on the surface as he hides his true looks beneath a veneer of slick sophistication. Ordinarily, he looks like a well groomed aristocratic teenager, blond short hair and green eyes with a wicked glint to them; an easy and quick smile swift to leap to his lips. He's always dressed in a black suit with a blue undershirt. He looks like a prodigal businessman in the making. But when certain adornments are removed, his true nature is revealed; a tall, skeletal looking figure with blackened skin from which hellfire glows out from through cracks fissuring his armor-like 'skin.' Spikes cluster around his elbows, hips, knees, and shoulders. He has jagged claws and talons and a long, whip-like tail.
Character Personality: Elwood is the crime lord of The Pits presently. All the petty lords dance to his tune, one way or another, but he's more than content to let them squabble with each other and destroy each other, rising and falling swiftly, as such petty wars amuse and feed him. His ultimate goal is to retain his lordship of The Pit while plotting for means to take over Rune. He has a bevy of heavies, though powerful as he is, he hardly needs them and uses them more as a show of his influence over the criminal underworld. He rarely shows his true form unless committing a heinous dark ritual or trying to truly intimidate someone into his bidding. The majority of the time, he keeps his young classy-but-punk teen human look. He has a silver tongue and is excellent at making bargains that sound reasonable until one day you wake up with his goons at your door, demanding payment.
Inventory
Worn
1) Suit of the Bastardly Gentleman - This black suit fits the shape of the wearer no matter what their body shape. When worn, they are able to take the guise of a perfectly ordinary (if charming) human. (Epic Illusion) It also provides surprising amounts of physical and magical protection. (PL: Strong)
2) Master's Ring - This iron ring contains the symbol of a broken heart on it. It is the 'master' ring to various servant rings that Elwood hands out to people in his employ or who owe him favors. By clenching his fist, he can send searing pain to anyone wearing a servant ring. The target is either someone he is looking at, picturing clearly in his mind, or is an area affect around him in a circle of about five feet. (Strong Pain effect.)
Carried
(Strapped to his back) Hell's Heart - This black bow conjures and fires arrows of flaming hellfire. These arrows will pass harmlessly through anyone who is allied with the wielder or who is especially evil at heart. It will seek the hearts of especially good enemies, though, and can set combustables on fire. (PL: Strong)
(Kept folded in a billfold) Binding Contract - Signing this contract binds you to the clauses listed within it. You are incapable of defying or breaking the contract as written so long as it exists. If there is a clause of expiration, you are released when the contract expires.
Home
Unlimited Slave Rings - He has an unlimited number of these iron rings. Once they're put on, they cannot be removed except by Elwood or unless the wearer cuts off their whole hand--merely removing the finger causes the ring to transfer to a new finger (a fact that Elwood, of course, does not inform the wearers of.) The rings serve no purpose except to mark the wearer is someone working for or indebted to Elwood and for his Master ring to channel through.
Master's Favorite Leash - If Elwood attaches this leash to someone, he can drain them of their life force, healing himself but damaging (and shortening the life) of the wearer. (Moderate damage, Moderate Healing)
Hook of Farewells - This hook hangs in a room within Elwood's home. If someone is hung from it, they have three posts before they will turn to ash. (Item only used WPP)
Iron Maiden of Preservation - This coffinlike torture device is in a special room of Elwood's home. Anyone placed within is pierced by the spikes but constantly healed by the magic of the iron maiden. (Moderate damage, Moderate healing)
Unlimited Binding Contracts (See Above)
