The Person
Description of Character: Tristan is on the tall side, standing at about 6'1". Thanks to his sword practice, he’s developed a fair bit of lean muscle. He’s never been a hard-hitting powerhouse, preferring instead to use a combination of finesse and strength in his swordwork, but he’s very dexterous and light on his feet.
His complexion is fair, with sky-blue eyes and dark blond hair. Given his gentle upbringing, he has little in the way of scars, despite his swordplay. His straight hair is kept long and usually pulled into a tail, with his bangs parted on either side of his face. Tristan keeps himself clean-shaven; his jaw is tapered, his chin comes to a softly rounded point. His lashes are a bit long, and his arched brows are neatly groomed. He also has strong cheekbones and a straight nose
He prefers to dress in dark blues, but House pride dictates that he include a fair bit of deep purple in his wardrobe as well.
Character Personality: Tristan is friendly and outgoing, not one to shy away from conversation or new people. He enjoys being social, be it with a friend or two at home, or with strangers at a party. He’d much rather be in the company of someone else than spend his free time alone.
Despite his love of socializing, he doesn’t have a need to make friends of everyone he meets. Sure, it’s nice to make friends, and he has no trouble entertaining the possibility, but he’s not one to get too upset if things don’t work out that way. “Not friends” doesn’t automatically mean “they hate me,” after all. By the same token, it doesn’t really bother him if his friends aren’t friends with each other. Just because they like him doesn’t mean they have to like each other. It’s great if they do, but if not, he’d okay with that. (He’s okay with a lot of things).
It takes a lot to really ruffle his feathers or offend him, and insults given to him tend to roll right off his back or be viewed with amusement. He does not, however, take kindly to having his loved ones insulted.
He has a pretty solid practical streak and a tendency to approach matters as he would a business venture. He likes to lay things out for both parties to discuss: terms and conditions and negotiating. Sure, that can make things feel a little awkward, but in his opinion, it’s a lot less awkward that what could result if you just expect each other to somehow magically know. He prefers to actually know, thanks. Maybe it’s not “romantic” to some, but really, some people’s ideas of spontaneous romantic gestures sound like a good way to get slapped or at least end up very disappointed.
He likes some romance, though. (Just not the kind where you make assumptions and do things to someone without asking. Can people just, like, communicate, for goodness' sake?) And he’s fond of flirting and being generally playful. And touchy. He loves being in physical contact with those he’s close to.
Tristan’s pretty straightforward and honest in most things, particularly in his personal life. He doesn’t like to leave people guessing or uncertain (unless in jest), so he tends to speak up when something bothers him (or at least let them know that he is bothered, even if he might not want to go into detail at the time). In his professional life, he’s a bit more canny, playing things close to the vest and taking the occasional loophole if need be.
The Stuff
Worn/Equipped
Weapon (worn on hip) - Dancing Dueling Sword of Liberation - This slightly curved sword measures just over 3 feet in length and is designed to be wielded in one hand. A dueling sword may be used like a longsword to deal Moderate damage, but Tristan Fell is able to wield it with greater finesse, dealing Strong damage with his well-positioned and well-timed strikes.
You may loose this sword to attack on its own. It fights for 4 rounds using the skill of the one who loosed it, and then drops. While dancing, you not considered armed with the weapon and thus cannot access any other weapon abilities. The weapon itself is considered to be wielded by you for the purposes of effects that target items.
While dancing, the sword shares your space and can attack any foes that you would be able to reach while using it as normal. It accompanies you everywhere, whether moved by physical or magical means. If you have a free hand, you can grasp it while it's dancing; when so retrieved, the sword can’t dance (i.e. attack on its own) again for 4 rounds. [Dancing Effect: Strong]
In addition, the wielder can free themself or a nearby person or creature from spells, powers, and other effects that inhibit movement. [Liberation Effect: Strong]
Armor - Celestial Armor - This chainmail is so fine and light that it can be worn under normal clothing without betraying its presence, and will not hinder your speed of movement. It also allows the wearer to fly on command once per day for up to ten rounds. [Defense: Strong]
Head - Circlet of Iron Resolve - This simple silver circlet grants Moderate protection against mental or emotional effects to attempt to sway you from your current course of action. [Moderate Ment. Defense]
Hands - Gloves of Dueling - These supple, silver-grey gloves grant defense against attacks and effects that would make you lose your grip on your weapon(s). You also won’t drop held weapons when panicked, stunned, or staggered. [Moderate]
Ring - Ring of Protection - This silver ring is set with a faceted amethyst. While worn, it creates a magical field around you that averts and deflects attacks. [Moderate Defense]
Feet - Boots of Speed - These soft, knee-high boots are dark grey and appear to have shimmering silver stitching when you move. At will, you may activate the boots to gain a Moderate boost to your speed, movement, and reaction time for up to ten rounds in a thread. These rounds need not be consecutive; you can dismiss and reactivate the boots at will.
