A list of potential characters and races, the idea from the various others on this board. None are for adoption, don't steal, etc etc. If you like the sound of a concept, message me.
Races:
Ayim: A usually humanoid race of two different subspecies: Ayimoz and Ayimir. Both have an internal goo with organ globes, three of which are optical globes in a down-pointed triangle and one of which is a taste/smell globe. The taste/smell globe is located on their long, prehensile tongue, used for swallowing food whole as they lack teeth. Their internal goo is acidic and dissolves food, which is spread through their bodies with oxygen via small subconscious pulsations of their bodies. Both also have hands and feet twice the size of a usual humanoid. Ayimoz are somewhat transparent, though it varies in degree, with a thicker 'skin' around them to keep shape and 'hair' being loose spikes made purely from a thinner concentrated version of their wall. Ayimir instead have thick, clay-like armored plates which resistance temperature at the cost of mobility in place of an Ayimoz's 'skin', a thin skin lying under the armor. Ayimoz need more humid climates while Ayimir need drier climates. Both are strong climbers, but Ayimoz are strong swimmers and Ayimir strong burrowers. The skin or armor of Ayim repair naturally, with excess density forming and growing their headspikes reminiscent of hair in healthy Ayim.
Very adaptable, able to mold their bodies into various shapes of other races that the Ayim find interesting. Ayimoz employ 'skinners' who manipulate their skin by chemicals, medicine or magic, which includes doctors, surgeons and hair stylists. Ayimoz also can dye their skin temporarily. Healthy Ayimoz have an even level of skin thickness, and rich Ayimoz have elaborate spike styles, complex body modifications such as wings (though they cannot fly), and multicolor pattern dying of their skin. Ayimir instead employ 'layerers', 'smoothers' and 'etchers'. Layerers build upon their armor, etchers etch patterns and shape it, and smoothers level and polish the armor. Healthy Ayimir have plates that fit against each other well and even plate thickness. Rich Ayimir often have their armor incredibly smooth and polished, spikes in complex fragile structures or mimicking the hairshape of other humanoids, and armor etched with patterns and painted with leaf of precious metals and fitted jewels.
While both can mimic the overall shape of any race, Ayimoz can reshape themselves easier. Ayim come in all colors. They are naturally inquisitive and somewhat reckless due to a lack of predators: their internal acidity allowed few predators and feel less pain. Touch is highly important to them, even Ayimir can feel sensation of touch through their plates. They generally have a lot of contact with each other, with refusal to touch either due to sickness or a good deal of dislike of a person. They also have less of a concept of personal space, though they understand privacy.
Characters:
Umbrella Person: Someone who always carries an umbrella, has a rain cloud over their head, greatly enjoys rain. Friendly, though somewhat of a stickybeak and a gossip. Loves parties, though often not invited due to rain cloud.
Cath Ode Ray: A morally grey Ghoul, naive to the outside world who wears a CRT TV on their head. Previously the waste-disposal of a mass murderer in another world, he ended up in the Pits somehow. While he understands eating others is bad, he views his own hunger as equally bad and finds society to be weirdly complex, having lived a very simple life of food, sleep and playing.
