Name: Pepper of the Caravans (The Harrower)
Age: 19
Sex/Gender: Female
Race Name: Psionic Human
Race Description: N/A
Racial Powers: Telekinesis
Accurate Throwing - Pepper can throw things via her hands with incredible accuracy by controlling them with her telekinesis. She usually does this with cards (moderate), but she can also do it with other objects (light).
General Telekinesis - Pepper usually had to hide her abilities, and thus is not as skilled with the general “force shoving and lifting things with her mind” powers as your average telekinetic (light)
Communicative Telepathy - Pepper can have mental conversations with people within a small radius. She only uses this power to intimidate people (i.e. pretending she can read their mind) or to talk to friends she trusts (weak)
Consequences - not powers, but if she overuses her abilities, Pepper can suffer from headaches, nose bleeding, migraines, lightheadedness, and unconsciousness.
Description of Character:
Pepper is about 5'3" and lean, with slender fingers, wide hips, big thighs, and small breasts. Her black hair is thick and raggedly chopped short to about her chin. She has fairly dark skin and dark brown, almond-ish shaped eyes. Her teeth are a little crooked and she has dimples when she smiles. When she was young, Pepper lost her right forearm in an accident and it was replaced with a robotic one; it's connected to her nerves via a combination of science and magic and works just as well as a normal hand (although she needs to oil and adjust it every once in a while). she also has a few scars on her back, arms, legs, and neck.
Her usual outfit is a baggy short-sleeved blouse, a long patchwork skirt, fingerless leather gloves, a belt, and boots - when performing, she loses the gloves and adds a kerchief around her hair, some jewelry, and a sash or two. When trying to pass for a boy, she wears loose pants and a newsboy cap. She always wears a small medallion around her neck with a mysterious symbol on it, strung on a leather cord - she's had it since she was young, probably from her real parents.
Pepper is also followed around by a stray black cat she named Salt. He's very loyal and often helps her out if she's ever in trouble (check inventory for more information).
Character Personality:
On the outside, Pepper is a very quiet person who prefers to listen to what people have to say rather than talk. She is polite and kind, especially towards young children, but when talking to herself or to her friends she's incredibly sarcastic and sassy. Around other people, however, she's very reserved and has very little trust in those she doesn't know incredibly well; she's very good at telling people things about herself that seem important but really aren't. Her trust issues are mostly due to her having to hide many aspects of herself both before and after she joined the Caravans. Pepper is also very clever, witty, and wise beyond her years - many say that looking into her eyes is like looking into the eyes of a 90 year old woman. To her friends and family, Pepper is incredibly loyal and will protect them until the end. Though she is usually kind, Pepper can be ruthless when it comes to protecting or helping those she loves, and she has no qualms about using her powers to hurt others that try to hurt her.
She doesn't like rules, regulations, authority, or injustice, and she will often rebel against authority simply because she can or because she sees it as corrupt. She does like helping people, tarot reading, putting on card trick shows, and making people laugh. Because she had to learn how to fix her arm on her own, Pepper also dabbles in mechanical tinkering and some science. Her childhood fighting instincts were strengthened in the Caravans, and she can generally hold her own against a grown man or two by playing dirty with her punches. She enjoys reading and climbing things, and she hates needles and spiders.
Character Backstory: (if you want to find out her backstory through her, don't read)

Character Backstory: (if you want to find out her backstory through her, don't read)
Pepper’s race isn’t really different from that of your average human psion’s. However, she’s from an alternate dimension of Earth during a steampunk time period, so culturally she has a different background. She’s seen most steampunk-era technology, but advanced sci-fi technology and modern day Earth technology will be fairly new to her.
Pepper was part of a clan called the Caravans, which was essentially a web of traveling circuses spread out across the globe. Members of the Caravans come from all ethnicities, countries, and backgrounds, giving the group an ambiguous, mixed culture. In this dimension, surnames are reserved for the super powerful and wealthy, so most people only have a first name, an "of the [clan name]," and maybe a descriptive title.
Pepper grew up in an orphanage in a busy city; as a small, quiet girl with dark skin and a penchant for reading, she didn't have many friends and was often bullied. When she was four, she lost part of her arm in an accident and was able to get a mechanical replacement from a pitying upperclass do-gooder. She picked up sleight of hand quite easily even with her mechanical arm, which was helpful in card games, picking pockets, and picking locks. When she was seven, she stole a deck of cards from a fortune teller and got caught - instead of turning her in to the police, the fortune teller adopted her and brought her into the Caravans, teaching her about tarot, palmistry, and anything else Pepper found interesting.
When she was nine, Pepper almost drowned after falling into a river. The traumatic experience awakened her Psionic powers, and she learned she had telekinesis and weak telepathy. The only other person who knew about her powers was her adopted mother, who told her to hide her powers. She was afraid Pepper might become a freak show exhibit or a mad scientist's experiment if her powers were exposed. Instead, Pepper used her powers to throw cards, pick locks without tools, trip annoying members in the caravan, and have mental conversations with her mother.
Pepper stayed with the Caravans and eventually started her own show booth, specializing in reading tarot cards and doing general card tricks. She earned the title The Harrower when she was thirteen, after doing a tarot reading for a particularly special client that predicted bad luck and death - and ended up coming true.
At eighteen, Pepper's adopted mother died of mysterious circumstances, and Pepper has been trying to find out why she was killed and who killed her ever since. She came to Rune by accident, following a lead to a seance master who lived and worked in an apartment in her old city. However, instead of finding the master, she fell through a portal in the floor of his seance chamber and ended up in Rune. For now, she's focused on surviving, but eventually she'll want to find this seance master and see if he can contact her mother beyond the grave.

Powered/Magic Items
- Edison - Edison is a small, buffered, fluorescent rock shaped like an egg. She's also magical and has her own kind of personality (kind of like a pet rock that actually moves). Having physical SKIN contact with Edison gives Pepper empathic abilities (light), which are helpful when doing tarot readings.
- Empathic abilities - reading emotions, may take emotions on as her own subconsciously. CANNOT control others' emotions. Easy to resist. WPP
